INSTRUCTIONS:

Before taking the quiz, read the overview of poetic devices, “Imagery, Metaphor, Simile." There are three sets of questions, one for each of the three poetic devices.

The questions will ask for examples of these devices in one of the four short stories that we have read so far:

- - John Cheever’s “The Swimmer”
  - Kate Chopin's “Story of an Hour”
  - Ralph Ellison's “Battle Royal”
  - Charlotte Perkins Gilman's “The Yellow Wallpaper”

→ You must draw from a DIFFERENT story for each of the THREE sets of questions, excluding any ONE story of your choice.
