Writing a dissertation can be very taxing. It requires critical thinking and huge time commitments. Often it causes a lot of stress and anxiety. Moreover having time restraints can make it even worse! Writing a dissertation is one of the biggest challenges during a master’s. A dissertation is a detailed piece of writing over a topic of the student’s choosing. It requires a lot of research. There are different perspectives taken into account, different arguments, evaluation of evidence, and suitable conclusions. Dissertations can also be used as a teaching, they give us a different aspect to a specific topic. The size of the master’s dissertation varies depending on the university. It also varies upon the potential of the topic or argument. But on average, it ranges from 10,000 to 30,000 words. So what if you have only 2 weeks until you submit your project? Can you complete a master’s dissertation in 2 weeks? Is it possible or just another internet myth? Let’s find out!

Here’s how you can complete your master’s dissertation in two weeks-

  • Firstly, we would recommend you to use your time wisely. These 2 weeks are going to be of immense hard work and no tolerance towards procrastination! Hence, make up your mind before you start making a ground plan for your dissertation.
  • Next, start with a solid plan. You are going to need to break up these two weeks, each day allotted to a particular task. For example, the last days will be used for printing and binding. Hence that leaves you with 12 days for research and writing.
  • Start the first 2-3 days by doing your research, take down notes, and understand your topic well. Once you have a basic understanding of your topic, it will be easier for you to write a detailed script.
  • Once you’ve done your research and taken down the notes start writing your dissertation with a daily target. Distribute how many sections you will complete writing each day. Your math comes to play here!
  • Let’s assume you’re writing a dissertation of 10,000 words in 9 days that leaves you to write around 1000 words in a day! 1000 words in a day seem more doable and possible.
  • Decide which time of the day is best suitable for you to do most of the writing. For me, it is preferably morning when you are fresh and can start the day with good productivity. Although, this can differ from person to person. Hence, decide which time of the day you can pull the most amount of work out of yourself.
  • As humans, we are bound to make mistakes. Hence keep some time for proofreading and editing. You can keep a day in the end for proofreading your entire project and make corrections to those errors before printing.

In this way, you have your dissertation ready and set to be submitted in 2 weeks! Often, 2 weeks seems too little a time to write a master’s dissertation. Although, if you don’t have a choice, it’s not even nearly impossible!
